Why We're Building Social Hub: Mining Is Better Together
Torium is adding real-time chat to the app. Here's why we think connecting miners matters just as much as the mining itself.
Most mining apps work the same way. You open the app, tap a button, close the app, and come back hours later. The entire experience is solo. You and your phone, earning in silence.
That's fine for a while. But it gets old. And more importantly, it misses something that makes crypto projects actually succeed in the long run: the people behind them.
With v1.0.5, we're starting to change that. Social Hub is now part of Torium, and even though it's just Phase 1, it represents a big shift in what this app is meant to be.
The Solo Mining Problem
If you've been mining on Torium for a few weeks, you probably have questions. How do boosts work exactly? What's the best way to use referrals? Is anyone else from my country using this app?
Until now, finding answers meant leaving the app entirely. Maybe you'd search for a Telegram group or scroll through Twitter. Maybe you'd just figure it out on your own. That's not a great experience, and we know it.
The thing is, there are thousands of miners across dozens of countries using Torium every single day. People in Lagos, Karachi, Istanbul, Jakarta, Cairo. They're all doing the same thing you're doing. But none of them could talk to each other inside the app where they actually spend their time.
Social Hub fixes that.
What Social Hub Looks Like Right Now
Phase 1 is focused on the basics: real-time chat that works reliably across 16 languages.
When you open Social Hub, you're placed in the chat room that matches your device language. Turkish speakers land in the Turkish room. Arabic speakers in the Arabic room. There's also a Global room pinned at the top for conversations that cross language barriers.
You can reply to specific messages, react with emojis, and read official announcements from the team in a dedicated read-only room.
Is it a full social platform? No. It's a chat system with moderation tools, language rooms and a clean interface. That's it for now, and that's intentional. We'd rather ship something solid and build on it than launch a bloated feature nobody enjoys using.
Why This Matters More Than You Think
Community isn't just a nice feature to have. In crypto, it's the engine.
Think about the projects that have lasted. Bitcoin has its maxis. Ethereum has its developer community. Even smaller projects survive bear markets because the people behind them actually talk to each other, help each other, and stick around.
Mining apps that treat users as isolated individuals tend to lose them quickly. There's no reason to stay if the only thing keeping you is a number going up on a screen. But when you know the people mining alongside you, when you can ask questions and share tips, when you feel like part of something, that changes the equation.
We're not saying Social Hub will instantly make Torium feel like a tight-knit community overnight. That takes time and it takes the community itself showing up. But we are saying that you now have the space to make it happen.
What's on the Roadmap
Phase 1 is chat. But the plan goes much further.
We're working toward raid rooms where the community can coordinate social media actions together and earn TOR as a group. There's an XP and leveling system in the works that rewards people for being active in Social Hub, not just for mining. Leaderboards, badges, daily social tasks, meme contests. All of it designed to make participation feel rewarding beyond just the mining rate.
We're not going to put exact dates on any of this because we'd rather ship things when they're ready. But the foundation is built now, and that means the next phases can come faster than the first one did.
Try It This Week
v1.0.5 is rolling out this week. Along with Social Hub, it also includes updated mining rates with a new base rate of 3.2 TOR/h, a simplified boost system where each boost gives you +0.3 TOR/h, and a cleaner mining dashboard overall.
But the part we're most curious about is Social Hub. We built the rooms. Now it's up to you to fill them.
Open Social Hub, find your language room, and say hello. Introduce yourself. Ask a question. Help someone who's newer than you. That's how communities start.
We'll see you in there.
