Torium Network Whitepaper
Version 1.2 — May 2026
Abstract
Torium Network is an enterprise-oriented Layer-1 blockchain platform that combines Proof of Participation (PoP) mobile mining with enterprise-grade supply chain verification. By enabling anyone with a smartphone to participate in network growth and earn TOR coin without specialized hardware, upfront capital, or deep technical knowledge, Torium connects real-world utility with broad public access.
This whitepaper outlines Torium's mission, PoP mining system, tokenomics, milestone-based halving model, ecosystem direction, and testnet-to-mainnet transition framework.
1. Introduction
The Problem
Blockchain promised open participation, but the dominant models still exclude most people.
- Proof of Work rewards hardware access. Traditional mining requires specialized devices, industrial electricity, and capital.
- Proof of Stake rewards existing capital. The more assets a participant already owns, the more influence and yield they can secure.
- Financial access remains uneven. Millions of people have smartphones but still lack easy access to savings tools, investment products, and global digital payments.
- Enterprise blockchain adoption still faces trust and usability gaps. Supply chains, authentication systems, and data-sharing networks need stronger verification rails and simpler user experiences.
The Opportunity
There are billions of smartphones already connected to the internet. Torium's view is simple: participation itself can be a source of value. If the network can measure legitimate engagement, reward consistency, and connect that activity to real demand, blockchain access becomes far more inclusive.
Torium is built to turn that idea into a usable system: a network where everyday users earn TOR through participation and where enterprises use the same infrastructure for verification, data integrity, and utility.
2. Vision and Mission
Mission: Make digital wealth creation and blockchain participation accessible to anyone with a smartphone.
Vision: Build a participation-based blockchain ecosystem where individuals earn TOR coin through real engagement while enterprises use the network for practical, verifiable utility.
Enterprise Power Meets Individual Gain.
Core Principles
- Low barrier entry — No ASICs, no large upfront capital, and no specialist setup.
- Participation-first rewards — Consistency, activity, and network contribution matter more than hardware ownership.
- Real utility — TOR is designed to power a functioning ecosystem, not a purely speculative loop.
- Scalable fairness — Supply, mining emissions, and halving mechanics are defined in advance to reward early participation while preserving long-term sustainability.
3. Proof of Participation (PoP)
Why PoP
Torium uses Proof of Participation because existing consensus models concentrate rewards around capital or hardware. PoP instead rewards legitimate network participation.
| Mechanism | Primary Input | Typical Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Proof of Work (PoW) | Hardware + electricity | Industrial-scale operators |
| Proof of Stake (PoS) | Capital ownership | Large holders |
| Proof of Participation (PoP) | Activity + consistency | Smartphone users |
How PoP Works
- A user starts a mining session from the mobile app.
- The network tracks participation signals such as valid session activity, referrals, streaks, and eligible session boosts.
- Rewards are calculated centrally and credited to the user's TOR balance.
- Fraud controls reduce abuse from bots, multi-accounting, and artificial engagement.
PoP is designed for lightweight mobile participation. The device does not perform heavy computation or chain synchronization.
4. Testnet Mining System
Base Configuration
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Base Rate | 3.2 TOR/hour |
| Session Duration | 24 hours |
| Testnet Mining Pool | 600,000,000 TOR |
Earning Sources
All mining-related earnings during the pre-mainnet phase come from the 600,000,000 TOR testnet mining pool.
Base Mining
- Base rate: 3.2 TOR/hour
- One full 24-hour session yields 76.8 TOR before boosts
Session Boosts
- Session-based boosts can temporarily increase a user's mining rate during an open session
- The current paced boost model supports up to 5 boosts per hour
- One boost slot refreshes every 12 minutes
- Users can apply up to 120 boosts during a full 24-hour session
- Each eligible boost currently adds +0.3 TOR/hour to the session mining rate while cumulative mined supply is below 200,000,000 TOR
- From 200,000,000 TOR onward the eligible boost rate halves at every 100,000,000 TOR halving era: +0.16 TOR/hour from 200M-300M, +0.08 TOR/hour from 300M-400M, +0.04 TOR/hour from 400M-500M, +0.02 TOR/hour from 500M-600M
- Public mining outcomes vary depending on consistency, referral growth, streaks, and eligible boosts
Referral Tier Bonuses
| Referrals | Bonus | Total Base Rate |
|---|---|---|
| 0-19 | +0.0 TOR/hour | 3.2 TOR/hour |
| 20-49 | +0.5 TOR/hour | 3.7 TOR/hour |
| 50-99 | +1.0 TOR/hour | 4.2 TOR/hour |
| 100+ | +2.0 TOR/hour | 5.2 TOR/hour |
Streak Boosts
Streak boosts are percentage-based and reset through a weekly cycle.
| Day | Boost |
|---|---|
| 1 | +10% |
| 2 | +15% |
| 3 | +20% |
| 4 | +25% |
| 5 | +30% |
| 6 | +40% |
| 7 | +50% |
Mini Task Boosts
- Session boosts: +10% and +20%
- Timed boosts: +30%, +50%, and +75% for 30-60 minute windows
Referral Earnings
- Users earn 10% of a referred user's mining output
- Under the planned halving framework, referral earnings scale from the referee's era-adjusted mining output when the halving multiplier is active
Reference Earning Profile
For planning purposes, the public reference model uses a network-wide average of ~11 TOR/hour, equal to ~264 TOR/day over a 24-hour period, across the testnet phase. Actual individual outcomes vary by referral growth, streaks, eligible boosts, and future emission settings.
5. Testnet Halving Model
Overview
Torium is designed around a milestone-based halving model during testnet. Halving is not triggered by time or block height. Instead, the planned activation framework is based on cumulative amount mined globally crossing defined thresholds.
Each era distributes 100,000,000 TOR from the testnet mining pool. There are 6 eras in total, covering the full 600,000,000 TOR testnet allocation.
Halving Schedule
| Era | Cumulative Mined | Multiplier | Effective Base Rate | Eligible Boost Rate | Effective Average Rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 - 100,000,000 TOR | 1.0x | 3.2 TOR/hour | +0.30 TOR/hour | 11 TOR/hour |
| 1 | 100,000,000 - 200,000,000 TOR | 0.5x | 1.6 TOR/hour | +0.30 TOR/hour | 5.5 TOR/hour |
| 2 | 200,000,000 - 300,000,000 TOR | 0.25x | 0.8 TOR/hour | +0.16 TOR/hour | 2.75 TOR/hour |
| 3 | 300,000,000 - 400,000,000 TOR | 0.125x | 0.4 TOR/hour | +0.08 TOR/hour | 1.375 TOR/hour |
| 4 | 400,000,000 - 500,000,000 TOR | 0.0625x | 0.2 TOR/hour | +0.04 TOR/hour | 0.6875 TOR/hour |
| 5 | 500,000,000 - 600,000,000 TOR | 0.03125x | 0.1 TOR/hour | +0.02 TOR/hour | 0.34375 TOR/hour |
What the Multiplier Affects
When active, the halving multiplier is intended to apply to all mining earnings, not only the base rate.
- Base mining is halved
- Session-based ad boost rates stay flat through the first halving (0-200M mined), then halve at every 100M halving era from era 2 onward (+0.16 → +0.08 → +0.04 → +0.02 TOR/hour)
- Referral tier bonuses are halved
- Other mining-rate additions are halved
- Percentage-based boosts still scale naturally because they are derived from the current mining rate
Formula
Era-Adjusted Earnings = Raw Earnings × Halving Multiplier
Session-Locked Fairness
Under the planned halving framework, the multiplier is locked when a session starts.
- If a halving happens during an active session, that session continues at the pre-halving rate
- The new multiplier applies only to newly created sessions
This avoids penalizing users mid-session.
Intended Trigger Logic
- A user claims the completed session
- The claimed amount is added to the global mined total
- The system checks whether a 100,000,000 TOR threshold has been crossed
- If crossed, the active era increments and the global multiplier updates for new sessions when the halving system is active
When the Testnet Pool Is Exhausted
Once 600,000,000 TOR has been mined:
- Testnet mining ends
- Users keep all TOR already earned
- Pre-mainnet TOR balances convert 1:1 to mainnet TOR at TGE
- Ecosystem and marketing rewards can still continue from their own allocation
- Mainnet mining proceeds under a separate 400,000,000 TOR pool and its own launch-time parameters
6. Coin Economics
TOR Overview
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Coin Name | Torium (TOR) |
| Total Supply | 2,000,000,000 TOR |
| Asset Role | Native utility coin |
| Decimal Precision | 18 |
Allocation
| Category | Allocation | Percentage | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mining Rewards (PoP) | 1,000,000,000 TOR | 50% | Community distribution through participation mining |
| Ecosystem & Marketing | 400,000,000 TOR | 20% | Growth, partnerships, developer grants, referral and task rewards |
| Liquidity | 400,000,000 TOR | 20% | Exchange listings, trading pairs, and market support |
| Team | 200,000,000 TOR | 10% | Core team allocation, locked and vested over time |
Mining Pool Split
The full mining allocation is split between testnet and mainnet phases:
| Phase | Pool Size | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Testnet (Pre-Mainnet) | 600,000,000 TOR | Early community growth, bootstrap incentives, and broad participation |
| Mainnet | 400,000,000 TOR | Post-TGE on-chain mining and network growth |
Non-Mining Rewards
Not every reward comes from the mining pool.
The following incentives are funded from the Ecosystem & Marketing allocation, not from mining rewards:
- campaign rewards
- referral onboarding incentives
- community promotions
- similar ecosystem growth programs
These rewards are not affected by halving.
Supply Philosophy
Torium's supply model is built around transparent allocation, milestone-based scarcity during testnet, and a clear separation between mining rewards and ecosystem incentives. The goal is to distribute TOR broadly while keeping emissions predictable and understandable for users.
7. Testnet to Mainnet Transition
Testnet Progression
Torium's blockchain testnet follows a staged rollout designed to validate infrastructure before opening to users:
-
Internal Testnet (Q1 2026) — The blockchain testnet launches internally. The core team validates block production, transaction processing, and explorer infrastructure. The native test asset is tTOR.
-
Testnet Stabilization (Q2 2026) — First Proof of Participation tests run on the testnet chain. The network is stress-tested and validated before user-facing rollout.
-
Wallet Rollout (2026) — Mobile wallet functionality brings blockchain addresses into the app. Users can create testnet wallets, reserve mainnet preview addresses, and prepare for broader testnet transaction availability.
-
Incentivized Testnet (Q4 2026) — The testnet operates at full scale with community participation. Security audits are completed and authority nodes are selected for mainnet.
-
Mainnet Launch (2027) — Testnet operations conclude. All pre-mainnet TOR balances convert 1:1 to mainnet TOR at TGE. Mainnet mining begins from a separate 400,000,000 TOR pool with its own launch-time parameters.
Source of Truth
During the pre-mainnet phase, two systems operate in parallel:
- Torium backend database is the source of truth for mining balances, referrals, and reward entitlements. TGE snapshots are taken from the backend data store.
- Torium Testnet is a separate blockchain environment for wallet, transaction, and block infrastructure development.
This separation ensures test activity does not interfere with actual token allocation.
8. Mainnet Utility and Ecosystem Direction
Torium is being designed so TOR coin has practical roles across the network after mainnet.
Torium Pay
TOR can be used for airtime top-ups, data bundles, gift cards, and related digital utility products through aggregator integrations.
Marketplace and P2P Transfers
Torium aims to support peer-to-peer transfers and marketplace activity so users can move or spend TOR inside the ecosystem.
Scan & Earn
Product scans and authenticity checks create an economic bridge between user participation and enterprise verification needs.
Supply Chain Services
Enterprise usage can include product tracking, verification workflows, and immutable data records powered by Torium infrastructure.
Identity, Remittance, and Other Services
Future ecosystem services may include identity, remittance, creator tooling, and additional participation-driven utility. These directions remain roadmap items and are subject to launch conditions and implementation readiness.
9. Governance and Roadmap
Governance Direction
Torium follows a progressive decentralization model:
- Foundation-led bootstrap during early network development
- Broader community input as the ecosystem expands
- DAO-oriented governance after mainnet maturity
TOR coin is expected to play a role in governance participation once the network reaches that stage.
Roadmap Direction
Current public roadmap milestones include:
- Q1 2026 — Foundation, mobile app release, internal testnet and explorer launch
- Q2 2026 — PoP validation on testnet chain, enterprise partner outreach, global community launch, wallet preview rollout
- Q3 2026 — Mobile wallet expansion, testnet transaction readiness, Torium Pay planning
- Q4 2026 — Full-scale incentivized testnet, security audits, authority node selection, mainnet readiness
- 2027 — Mainnet launch, TGE, 1:1 TOR conversion, exchange listing preparation
- 2027+ — Cross-chain bridges, DAO governance, enterprise utility expansion
Roadmap timing remains subject to development, market, and regulatory conditions.
10. Conclusion
Torium is building a participation-driven blockchain model around a simple idea: access should not depend on owning expensive hardware or already holding significant capital.
With a 24-hour mining session model, a milestone-based halving framework, a 600,000,000 TOR testnet mining pool, and a 1:1 transition from pre-mainnet balances to mainnet TOR at TGE, the network is structured to reward early users while preserving long-term sustainability.
The long-term objective is not only to let users earn TOR coin, but to connect that earning model to real ecosystem utility and enterprise demand.
Enterprise Power Meets Individual Gain.
